Mushroom Toast

Sautéed mushrooms on crunchy toasted bread with marsala wine and fresh herbs is a simple appetizer that is perfect to start off any meal or party. If you’re looking for a simple recipe, be sure to try out this one!

Makes 12 Toasts

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

A platter of baguette toasts topped with mushrooms and garnished with Italian parsley.


2 cups white button mushrooms cleaned, stems removed, sliced

4 tablespoons olive oil (or butter)

2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

4 tablespoons marsala wine

4 tablespoons chicken broth

salt and pepper

12 sliced pieces of baguette, toasted

  1. Heat oil (or butter) in a large pan over medium heat.

  2. Add the mushrooms and cook until they are golden brown.

  3. Add the thyme, parsley, salt, pepper and wine.

  4. Cook until the wine evaporates.

  5. Add the chicken broth and stir until creamy.

  6. Toast the bread and divide evenly on top of toast.

  7. Garnish with parsley and sprinkle with salt and pepper if needed.

  8. Serve immediately.
