We have apples in abundance here in the Hudson Valley in the Fall. This apple crisp recipe works great for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet treat.

Serves: 6

Prep time: 15 mins

Bake time: 45 mins

Apple Crisp

4 cups sliced apples

2/3 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1/2 cup oats

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/3 cup butter, softened

Heat oven to 375º.

Arrange apples in a 2-quart casserole dish.

Mix all remaining ingredients except butter.

Cut in butter to the dry mixture until it makes small crumbles.

Sprinkle over the top of the apples.

Bake until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender, about 45 minutes.

Portmeirion Roasting Dish by Sophie Conran

Made by Sophie Conran for Portmeirion, This beautiful handled roasting dish is one of my favorite pieces in the kitchen. It can go straight from the freezer, to the oven and table, making it ideal to cook and serve. It's called a roasting dish but you can use it for anything (including Apple Crisp!). It's dishwasher, microwave, freezer, and oven safe.
